Loie Ruhl Couch, RN, BS, CIC is an Infection Preventionist for the Barnes Jewish Health System in St. Louis, MO. In addition to her hospital duties, Loie oversees Infection Prevention for the health systems ambulatory surgery centers.

Loie graduated as a RN 25+ years ago, and then received a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Leadership.  Loie was certified in Infection Control in 2005.  She possesses a varied medical/surgical nursing background including emergency medicine and trauma.  Infection Control became her area of specialty in 2003.  Loie has authored and co-authored several abstracts for both APIC and SHEA, and has presented at the National APIC conference in San Jose and Denver, as well as at the Bi-State Infectious Disease Conference in St. Louis and at the Little Rock Chapter of APIC Infectious Disease Conference.  She is the co-author of a chapter in the 3rd edition of the SHEA text, “Practical Epidemiology in Healthcare.”
