As Regional Administrator for Novamed, she oversaw operations of the physician practices, as well as the ambulatory surgery centers and optical shops in the Metro St. Louis and Illinois areas. Under her direction, a state-of-the-art refractive surgery center was also designed and opened in St. Louis, MO.

Cathy is Founder and President of Excellentia Advisory Group, a consulting and development company serving both the surgical industry through ASC’s as well as surgical ho

spitals and office-based surgical practices. Cathy’s passion has been teaching compliance to CMS Conditions of Coverage, AAAHC accreditation, and assisting ASCs with their survey readiness.

Robin has served as the SGNA Carolina Chapter President, involved in SGNA Practice Committee as well as a Regional Committee member for the past several years.  Robin is a current member of Palmetto APIC as well as the national APIC. Robin has been employed at the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Spartanburg since 2004 and held roles of Endoscopy Nurse, Endoscopy Charge Nurse and currently the Quality Assurance Process Improvement Coordinator.  Robin is currently employed as the Director of Infection Prevention for Excellentia Advisory Group.

The sterilization process at your facility is one of the most critical elements of patient care and successful outcomes. The many parts of the process, in and of itself, if missteps occur, could result in a devastating situation. This 1 hour session will cover:

  • Your role in sterilization
  • Transport techniques
  • Cleaning and inspection
  • Packaging
  • Actual sterilization
  • Storage and delivery
  • Quality assurance
  • Documentation
  • Tracking back to the patient, what, why, how

 WHO SHOULD ATTEND: 

Sterile Processing Technicians and anyone involved in the pre-cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of the instruments.  If you are not currently the one doing the processing, yet you are the Infection Preventionist, DON or Administrator, this session is valuable to you as you are ultimately responsible for the end result.

 The participant will be able to:

  • Identify key steps in the wash, sterilization and high-level disinfection process
  • Recognize sterilization/ high-level disinfection irregularities
