Chris is the Founder and President of Dembny Pharmacy Consultants for the past 17 years. Dembny Pharmacy Consultants provides pharmacy management services to 75 ambulatory surgery centers in Texas and Chris and his team visits each of these ASCs once a week. Chris is a Board Member of the Texas State Board of Pharmacy as well as a pharmacist for the First Choice Emergency Room.

Description:

This one and half hour presentation by Chris Dembny, RPh of Dembny Pharmacy Consultants was presented at our Infection Prevention Strategies for Ambulatory Surgery Centers conference in April 2015. Mr. Dembny teaches about infection prevention techniques, best practices and regulations relating to pharmacy and medication management within the ambulatory surgery center setting.

Learning Objectives:

• Describe role of the USP 797 in regards to it's role in ambulatory surgery centers.
  
• Understand what a pharmacy consultant does for the ambulatory surgery center.
• Understand what compounding pharmacies are and whether they are your best option to provide compounded sterile products.
  
• Understand what the DEA requires of the ASC especially in terms of ordering narcotics, witnessing signatures and wasting of controlled substances.
  
• Understand how improper pharmacy and medication management can lead to HAI's in the ambulatory surgery center.
